Four South Dakota Students Awarded 2025 Franklin Krause New Horizons Scholarships

The Franklin Krause Foundation, established within the South Dakota Community Foundation, is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Franklin Krause New Horizons Scholarship. With the high quality of applicants this year, the scholarship committee has decided to award two full $1,500 scholarships and two partial $500 scholarships.

To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must complete an application, essay and submit two letters of recommendation. The New Horizons scholarship is awarded based on academics, leadership, community service and extracurricular activities.

Ashlyn Snyder, of Custer, SD, has been awarded a full $1,500 scholarship and will attend the University of Mary to pursue a degree in Nursing.

Ashlyn has demonstrated exceptional academic dedication and actively participates in athletics, music and community service.

She is committed to becoming a healthcare professional, having already completed certification as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) while working at Monument Health Hospital in Custer, SD.

Jackson Wiles, from Hermosa, SD, has been awarded a $1,500 scholarship and will be majoring in Business and Finance.

Jackson has shown a strong commitment to academics, athletics and community service, preparing himself for a successful career in the business sector.

He is recognized for his leadership qualities, having attended Boys’ State, and his dedication to personal and academic growth, as evidenced by his selection to the National Honor Society.

Carson Lee Sebek, from Claire City, SD, has been awarded a partial $500 scholarship and will be studying Agriculture Business at Lake Area Technical College this fall.

Carson is deeply involved in his community and family farm, balancing sports, work responsibilities, and volunteer activities.

His goal is to become a fifth-generation farmer, utilizing his education to support his family’s agricultural legacy.

Kenley Parker, of Custer, SD, has been awarded a partial $500 scholarship and plans to attend South Dakota State University, pursuing a degree in Agriculture Business.

Kenley has excelled academically while actively participating in FFA, rodeo, athletics and extensive community service projects.

Her career ambition is focused on making a positive impact in agriculture and her community.

The Franklin Krause New Horizons Scholarship Selection Committee is proud to support these exceptional young individuals and wishes them continued success in their educational and career endeavors. The selection committee would like to thank all this year’s applicants for their applications.

Next year’s application deadline is March 1, 2026, and we will announce the winner by April 2026.
